French legislators are currently tussling over a three-strikes policy, one that would revoke access privileges for repeat infringers.
That has stirred some opposition among EU lawmakers, though French president Nicolas Sarkozy is now reportedly proposing the enforcement structure to the broader continent. According to a recent Register report, Sarkozy is suggesting modifications to existing European telecommunications legislation, a stance that is predictably stirring opposition.
The European Telecoms Package, currently under discussion, is slated for final approval in September.
