U2 Catching the Airborne Toxic Event

The contagion keeps spreading on the Airborne Toxic Event, a buzz-band recently signed to Island Def Jam.

The group is currently on tour in the US, touching southeast cities and landing in Austin at SXSW next week.  That is part of a major touring jaunt for the group, now on-the-road for most of the year.

The group can fill clubs on its own, though unconfirmed rumors point to a possible touring tie-up with U2.  Just recently, U2 bassist Adam Clayton mentioned Airborne during a radio program hosted by Garbage singer Shirley Manson.  As part of a larger chit-chat with the band from the Metro in Chicago, Clayton selected “Sometime Around Midnight” as a favorite track.  “I think I’m going to be listening to it all year long,” Clayton said, as quoted by the Chicago Sun-Times.
