I know, I was just like you a few years ago.

Predicting the crash of that over-leveraged but well-programmed fireball in the sky.  But satellite radio continues to plod along and survive, and the latest figures display even more resilience.

In a Wednesday briefing with Digital Music News, Sirius XM Radio disclosed a subscriber tally approaching 19.9 million (19,862,175, to be exact).  Net additions during the third quarter were 334,727, triple the add-ons for the same period last year.  And since that point last year, subscriber additions have topped 1.3 million.

So, people are actually jumping onto the ship these days, a nice change of pace.  And, this is happening against considerable competitive pressures from iPods, smartphones, Pandora, and traditional radio (though HD remains a disappointing competitor).  A more detailed financial disclosure happens next month.
