Arbitron Officially Belongs to Nielsen

Global cultural consumption metrics and statists provider Nielsen has completed its full acquisition of Arbitron Inc., the marketing and media research firm best known for its U.S. radio ratings.

The deal, which was approved by shareholders in April, was closed at $48 per share of Arbitron’s common stock on Monday, totaling the final price to $1.3 billion.

Aribitron is going to be renamed Nielsen Audio, integrated with Nielsen’s U.S. Watch business sector.
