Gorillaz Have Only Two Weeks Left of Recording for their Studio Album

Is the new Gorillaz album coming sooner than expected?

Reddit user PlacidBurrito posted a photo of himself with Damon Albarn, who told him something very interesting.  According to the post, Albarn told him that Gorillaz has only two weeks of recording left to do before their new album is finished.

This has been all but directly confirmed by the band, who re-tweeted the report of this news story on Consequence of Sound. Check out the tweet below.

The news comes hours before Gorillaz released their digital story titled The Book of Russel, which was named after the band’s drummer Russel. The book has the same artistic style as Monday’s release, The Book of Noodles.

Adding even more teasers to their upcoming album, Gorillaz has since posted the same Reddit fan shot on their Instagram. The caption reads,

“Damon said to these guys: “2 weeks left of recording and the album’s finished”.”

Despite their indirect confirmations, the current release date for the album is still unknown. Back in June, co-founder Jaime Hewitt posted an Instagram shot stating that the album won’t be complete until 2017, since it’s “really…special” and can’t be rushed. Therefore, if the news is true, this falls in line with what Albarn told the fan. Check out the Instagram shot below.

The last time the group released a studio album was in 2010 with The Fall. Earlier this week, Gorillaz also posted another teaser about their fifth studio album, with Damon Albarn in a recording studio with English producer, Two Inch Punch.
