Top Music Videos

Calvin Harris – This Is What You Came For (Official Video) ft. Rihanna
Calvin Harris originally intended for This Is What You Came For to appear on Rihanna’s Anti album. He told a radio DJ,
“I was playing it to her for [her] album and she said, ‘I don’t really think it suits my album.’ I went, ‘Ah OK, no worries.’ And then she said, ‘But I’d do it as a feature’. I’m like, ‘What?!”
Hasta el Amanecer – Nicky Jam | Video Oficial
Puerto Rican singer Nicky Jam reached the top of the Hot 10 Latin Songs at the beginning of this year. It’s still a hit at the end. Billboard called the track,
“sultry, sexy reggaetón track…[with] trademark catchy melodic hooks. Still a hopeless romantic, here Jam pines after a girl he met at the laundromat, and let go, without even finding out her name.”
The Chainsmokers – Closer (Lyric) ft. Halsey
The popular song both on digital sales charts as well as piracy networks deals with a couple rekindling their romance after a four-year absence. The Chainsmokers tweeted,
“This song is dedicated to anyone that hooked up with their EX and right after remember all the reasons why they broke up.”
Rihanna – Work (Explicit) ft. Drake [NSFW]
The popular song was produced at Drake’s home in Los Angeles. Longtime collaborator Sevn Thomas came up with the dance-hall rhythm. He told Complex magazine,
“We just went with the chords, and everything sort of started coming through organically. We basically banged this track out in half an hour, and we were just jamming out because we could just feel that island vibe, and we knew that the sound of the industry is sort of shaking up its little island vibe, and we knew we were really authentic, we had the Jamaican culture, and we took it upon ourselves to hone in on that and make our new futuristic dancehall songs that we like to call the new wave. We put our heads together with that one, and then Allen Ritter killed the chords on it. Amazing process.”
Mike Posner – I Took A Pill In Ibiza (Seeb Remix) (Explicit)
Mike Posner reflects on his career as a musician as well as his fame.
“People from Detroit think that ‘fame’ is just one thing, but it’s a continuum – I have friends that I have written songs for or whatever that are way more famous than me and they can’t go anywhere. If I walk down the street, people don’t really recognize me. If someone does it will be one or two people who want a picture, and that is cool, and then I can go on about my day. Which I actually really enjoy. The sort of mystique of fame that we all sort of grow up with a lust for – I no longer possess it, having worked in this industry and having had some of that myself.”
Sia – Cheap Thrills (Lyric Video) ft. Sean Paul
Cheap Thrills was written for, and subsequently rejected by, Rihanna.
“Her manager said “We want ‘Diamonds.” We need soul. We want some music that has feeling. I went to Greg and that’s what we came up with. I realized just as soon as I was cutting it that it sounded a little bit too Brit-pop for her. It’s more Icona Pop. We did actually send it to her, but they passed on it, and then I just couldn’t stop listening to it in the car.”
ZAYN – PILLOWTALK
PILLOWTALK marks the debut of Zayn Malik. He left One Direction. The song deals with sex. He explained,
“(The song is) pretty black and white. Everybody has sex, and it’s something people want to hear about. It’s part of everybody’s life, a very big part of life! And you don’t want to sweep it under the carpet. It has to be talked about.”
Coldplay – Hymn For The Weekend (Official video)
Hymn For The Weekend features more of Beyonce than she expected. Singer Chris Martin explained,
“When she’s on the microphone in the studio, you can just tell that this is a person that can choose any color from the palette and do it perfectly, musically,” Martin added. “She sounds a bit different, and she was very kind of humble. She didn’t really want, she didn’t ask for anything or say ‘I need my own bit here.’ She was so lovely.”
twenty one pilots: Heathens (from Suicide Squad: The Album) [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
No one heard about nor even knew about the existence of Heathens. However, the song was leaked on Reddit in August, a few weeks before its official release, costing the group millions. The song was written specifically for Suicide Squad. Tyler Joseph told Radio.com,
“I met with David Ayer, the director, and he kind of showed me some ideas, and some clips [from the film]. I’d never really written a song for a movie before, so it was a new experience. Especially the part where you show the movie company the idea, and you get a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ back. Like, whether or not you’re good enough. For us, we make a song, and if we like it, it goes on a record. So I was a little worried about that part. I kind of prepared myself for it to be a ‘no.’”
