Kid Cudi will co-star in the upcoming Bill & Ted: Face the Music movie, alongside Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.

It looks like Cudi has a pretty significant role in the film.

The upcoming movie is expected to release on August 21st, 2020. Alex Winter reached out to Kid Cudi on Twitter to congratulate him, revealing his appearance has been five years in the making.

“@KidCudi dude. It’s been over five years since you and I talked about you being part of this movie. Thanks for your patience :),” Winter’s tweet read. Kid Cudi quickly tweeted back and thanked Winter for choosing him to appear in the movie.

“Alex!!! Man i remember like it was yesterday! Life is wild!! Cant wait to reunite and see u dude!! Big hug for ya,” he replied.

The movie will be the third installment in the iconic Bill & Ted series. Cudi’s role has been kept under wraps in the threequel starring Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, William Sadler, Samara Weaving, and Brigette Lundy-Paine.

The iconic duo set out on a new adventure when a visitor from the future appears with a dire warning. Only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, Bill & Ted will be helped by their daughters, old friends, new historical figures, and a handful of music legends.

Dean Parisot is directing the movie, which is scheduled to start production this summer. Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon return as writers for the third installment.

The move represents an excellent diversification for Cudi.  The rapper has been enjoying a healthy profile in hip-hop for years, with undeniable charisma enabling the shift into film.   Cudi won a 2011 Grammy for “All of the Lights” in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category. His 2008 mixtape A Kid Named Cudi caught the attention of Kanye West, who signed the young hip-hop star to his GOOD Music imprint.
