Swedish artist, DJ and producer Robin Kadir has been bubbling for years in his local scene and is preparing to boil over into the global stage.
Ascend Agency is working with Digital Music News to create opportunities for artists to be visible to the music industry.
Flown out to perform at Boston Calling just a couple months into his DJing career, the sights were bright for Kadir from day one. Having taught himself the art of disk-jockeying as a University student, Kadir quickly shifted into the field professionally, going on to tour Sweden for years and play several festivals (including Lollapalooza and Way Out West).
Driving dancefloors delirious with his crisp selection of modern hip-hop and club sounds, Kadir soon found himself as a resident DJ at Spy Bar, Stockholm’s most exclusive nightclub. Over the course of the next few years he directed his energies primarily into this gig and his touring, dabbling in production on the side.
That dabble turned into a full-time commitment once touring was taken out of the picture. Though Sweden’s looser restrictions allowed him to play the occasional show, work-from-home being the new standard inspired Kadir to switch up his approach.
At the beginning of 2021 he flew himself out to Dubai, staying for several months and collaborating with other artists. While in the UAE he connected with fellow Swedish artist Jireel. The two of them cooked up the idea for the track Sanka while on their vacation, recording Jireel’s verse there and finishing it back home with additional verses from rappers Macky and A36. The track went on to go gold on the Swedish charts, racking up millions of streams during its first month of release.
With plans to move to LA at the beginning of February, it’s sure to be a big year for Kadir. Now working primarily with American and UK artists, Kadir is crafting a sound that’ll rock audiences around the world. His debut album is slated for a 2022 release. It’s a project he’s excited to deliver to the world while rocking out on a global stage – and with restrictions opening up, he now has the chance to do just that.
