Born and raised in Memphis, TN, rising hip hop artist Trub has been on a mission to make a name for himself in the underground music scene. Nicknamed “The Iron Chef,” Trub stands for truth, real, unique, and blessed, an acronym that has meant a lot to the creative over the past few years.

Ascend Agency is working with Digital Music News to create opportunities for artists to be visible to the music industry.

Growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, Trub experienced a lot of different things in life. His memories range from dark to fun, allowing him to bring both sides of life to his lyrics. What Trub prides himself on the most is the originality of his sound. “I’m universal, I have my own sound. I never follow someone else. I can rap and sing melodies on any type of beat,” he explained while speaking with us via an interview.

Trub’s ability to span a wide range of genres comes from the hours he’s put in at the studio. “I always make sure to take your mind out of the box. That means a lot to me,” Trub added.

The path to success hasn’t always been easy for the rising MC. Trub’s career path has been interfered with by a multitude of sets backs along the way.

Some of these setbacks include lacking a team, finding the right engineer to work with, making bad investments/getting scammed, having a lack of confidence, and finally, not setting up his music releases correctly and missing out on earnings. But what has been perhaps the biggest lesson Trub has learned is how to believe in himself despite all of the setbacks and negative energy around him.

Trub’s hard work has begun to pay off in full, earning multiple awards and passing milestone markers along the way. Digitally, the artist’s first mixtape ‘Armageddon’ accumulated over 500,000 downloads. The MC’s YouTube channel has amassed over 8 million views, with all of his most recent videos passing over 1 million views shortly after their release. Despite these impressive numbers, Trub’s greatest successes have come on the big stage.

His video ‘Lunchbag’ premiered on BET, and the artist has had multiple major performances, including in front of sold out crowds at Center Stage in Atlanta, GA, and The Coliseum in Ocean, Maryland. However, the vocalist’s greatest success was winning best new artist at the SEA awards back in 2018.

Next, Trub has plans to release a new project titled ‘4 Courses’. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, the artist has given us a taste of the project with a music video release from the tape.
