From the likes of South Philadelphia, Off Gucci is a promising up and coming artist who’s had a knack for music since he was young. The creative first got into music at the age of 11 as he and his brother would write rhymes and freestyle to each other daily at home after school.
Ascend Agency is working with Digital Music News to create opportunities for artists to be visible to the music industry.
Off Gucci’s first mixtape was a 4 track extended play called “Sample Album,” released solely by passing copies of it out in and after school. Word about the project spread like wildfire, and the creative was left motivated to continue making music. He did just that and found clever ways of recording, including using two radios of the same kind with mics, and used one to play the music and the other to record. By the time he was 16 years old, Off Gucci had figured out his love for music and the promising talent he had.
Shortly thereafter, Off Gucci unfortunately ran into some problems with the law and spent an albeit productive two years in a Philadelphia jail. While there he spent a lot of his free time writing and perfecting his skills as a songwriter and became a more well-rounded artist in the process. Once Off Gucci got out of jail, he took his career up a notch and never looked back.
Fresh out of jail, Off Gucci debuted his first official mixtape titled “Dat Head Roc,” and it set the tone for many successful releases to follow.
The MC released a total of 13 mixtapes in the next five years, including the all-time favorite for many, “Wilson Park Projects,” an anthem putting on for his home.
Fast forward years later to today, and Off Gucci is still that same dude making his presence felt in the hip hop industry, releasing new music. Recently, the artist dropped a music video for his 2022 trap hip hop record “Off Coke.” The visual captures the artist showing off his style and raping the song’s fast flowing lyrics. A simple yet effective video, Off Gucci didn’t want to take anything away from the audio. You can watch that here.
Off Gucci is getting to work heading into the new year. He is mentioned to be dropping two singles in January titled “Nicky Barnes” and “Barkley.” Then the artist will look to release a brand new 12-song album on Valentine’s Day called “No Latex.”
