Often overshadowed by the huge hip hop and rap music scene of New York and New Jersey, Boston doesn’t get much attention in the industry. But that doesn’t mean the city doesn’t produce its fair share of talent.

Ascend Agency is working with Digital Music News to create opportunities for artists to be visible to the music industry.

One creative starting to make headway in the hip hop industry proudly representing Boston is the artist Benny D.

Benny D was born into a family full of musicians and some with big connections to the music industry. His aunt was Mick Jaggers’ manager, his dad toured Europe, and his uncle is in the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Growing up with those influences made it hard for Benny not to begin making music. And ever since he was about 8 years old, he knew he wanted to follow in his family’s footsteps. At that age, Benny D first began to make music but didn’t release anything until he was 18.

The artist started off making music using his room as a studio to record and would mix things on his own using Ableton. As Benny D grew older and expanded his talents, he eventually met Lex Bubble who has been a best friend, mentor, and engineer for him for quite some time. The duo has produced over a half a decade of songs together and began to shape the promising career that was — and is still — to come.

Benny D always wanted to be a psychologist to inspire the youth, but found music to be a better outlet with a larger reach.

He hopes each release leaves some kind of lasting impression on the listener to better their life in some way. At the end of the day he wants to spread good vibes through his sound.

All the work behind the scenes early on led to the release of Benny D’s debut studio album at the beginning of 2018 titled, Life Guard. Consisting of a short 7 song track list, the album efficiently introduced fans to a new age raw talent with a lot to offer the music industry. In the five years since, Benny D has accomplished more than your average artist and still is putting in those late night 10 hour studio sessions hungry for more in his career.

Next in line for Benny D will be the release of his much anticipated second studio album. Dropping on streaming platforms in 2023, the new project is called “Sink or Swim” and will feature concepts metaphorically tied to water. Fans will have an action packed listen in store for them when it does officially drop.
