Several performers at the 2023 Academy Awards ceremony saw a boost in their streaming numbers. Lady Gaga also gave a surprise performance after producers said she wouldn’t be performing at the Oscars.
Glenn Weiss told Entertainment Tonight that Lady Gaga’s role in filming the latest Joker movie made her unable to deliver a performance of her caliber. Despite that claim, the superstar showed up on the carpet ahead of the ceremony and performed the nominated song, “Hold My Hand,” from Top Gun: Maverick.
With the live performances, stars like Rihanna and Lady Gaga saw a massive boost in their streaming numbers and digital song sales. Data from Luminate shows the Everything, Everywhere, All At Once soundtrack also saw a massive boost in sales following its sweep at the Oscars.
Luminate’s data shows increases from March 11 to March 12 for the United States only.
