The Lil Durk concert at the United Center in Chicago descended into looting following a false active shooter scare.
Near the end of Lil Durk’s concert Saturday night (August 12), the Chicago Police Department received reports of an active shooter. Fan-captured videos and clips on social media show scared audience members frantically running for safety in the venue while others started looting merchandise before running for the exit.
Although authorities arrived at the United Center looking for the shooter, Chicago PD confirmed the call was a false alarm, with no injuries or arrests made. That said, another report stated that a 20-year-old woman claimed to have been stabbed after getting into an argument with three other concertgoers, but this has yet to be corroborated.
The United Center released a statement that the venue was working with authorities to investigate the looting incidents following the Lil Durk concert.
“It became apparent for all involved that ending the show early was in everyone’s best interest as the safety of our guests and employees is a priority,” said the United Center in its statement. “We are thankful that initial incident reports were false and that guests exited the facility safely.”
On Sunday morning (August 13), Lil Durk took to Instagram to call out concertgoers in his hometown who looted merch while chaos ensued at the venue.
“Don’t believe the hype, we bigger (than) big; thank you, Chicago,” Durk wrote. “Till next time, and who all stole the merchandise, tag me so I can repost y’all crazy a**.”
Lil Durk is touring to support the release of his eighth studio album, “Almost Healed,” which debuted in June at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The 30-year-old drill rapper reportedly canceled most of the shows scheduled on his tour following a medical incident in July, except for his Friday and Saturday shows at the United Center and performances on the same days as part of the WGCI Summer Jam.
