Beyonce announces her Renaissance tour concert film with AMC Theatres, unveiling a trailer and opening ticket pre-sales for a December theatrical release.

Just after Taylor Swift’s blockbuster Eras Tour concert film expands to an international theatrical release, Beyonce unveils a trailer for a forthcoming concert film based on her phenomenal 2023 Renaissance Tour. “Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce” will debut in US theaters on December 1, with ticket pre-sales open now at theater chains including AMC, Cinemark, and Regal.

The company leading Taylor Swift’s theatrical experience, AMC Theatres, will also distribute Beyonce’s concert film.

Variety reports that Beyonce will receive the same arrangement as Swift, whose film was self-financed and who will keep over 50% of box office grosses in the deal. Sources with insider knowledge say the film will feature highlights from the full 2023 run of the Renaissance World Tour, with the highly anticipated videos for the visual album “Renaissance,” and a documentary style account of recording the album and creating its tour.

“When I am performing, I am nothing but free,” says Beyonce in the trailer for the theater film. “My goal for this tour was to create a place where everyone is free, and no one is judged.”

The trailer shows shots from the road and footage of Beyonce rehearsing with her eldest child and current backup dancer, 11-year-old Blue Ivy. Husband Jay-Z and the couple’s twins Rumi and Sir, can be spotted in the trailer, while Jay’s voice can also be heard in voiceover.

While theatrical releases of concert films seem to be fast on their way as the latest trend, this isn’t the first time Beyonce has released a film.

Her previous releases include “I Am… Yours,” filmed live at Las Vegas’ Wynn Casino in 2009 and released direct-to-DVD; “Life Is But a Dream,” a personal account of new motherhood experiences combined with live performances from her grand opening show at Atlantic City’s Revel Casino; and “Homecoming,” Netflix’s release of her 2018 headlining set at Coachella.
