MGM denies rumors that Bruno Mars is sinking in gambling debt with the casino, following claims to the contrary that started circulating last week.
Reports surfaced last week that Bruno Mars had allegedly made $90 million a year with his residencies at MGM Resorts, but that a large portion of that was going toward paying off his exorbitant gambling debt. Now MGM has come to Mars’ defense, denying that the performer has any debt with them.
“We’re proud of our relationship with Bruno Mars, one of the world’s most thrilling and dynamic performers,” a spokesperson for MGM Resorts told Variety. “MGM and Bruno’s partnership is longstanding and rooted in mutual respect. Any speculation otherwise is completely false; he has no debt with MGM.”
Representatives for Mars have not responded to media requests for comment, but have redirected inquiries to MGM’s statement.
“From his shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM to the new Pink Ring lounge at Bellagio, Bruno’s brand of entertainment attracts visitors from around the globe,” said the MGM Resorts spokesperson. “Together, we are excited to continue creating unforgettable experiences for our guests.”
Bruno Mars has been performing residencies in Las Vegas since 2016, with an ongoing multi-year MGM Resorts partnership. The singer and the casino recently expanded their partnership to launch the Pinky Ring cocktail bar and entertainment lounge inside the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, featuring live performances curated by Mars.
Rumors about Bruno Mars’ relationship with MGM Resorts began last week with a report citing an anonymous source “close to the situation.” That source claimed that of the star’s $90 million per year made through his MGM residencies, an alleged debt of over $50 million meant he wasn’t getting to keep most of his earnings, saying “[Mars will] only make $1.5 million per night after taxes.”
