Cutting Edge Media Music (CEMM) and its White Stork Music division, the publishing imprint of UK composer Tom Howe, has announced a partnership with Touchdown Films, the UK production company founded by filmmaker John Osborne. The deal sees CEMM provide Touchdown Films with finance and music services, as well as access to White Stork’s extensive music catalog for current and future projects.

As part of the deal, White Stork will retain IP rights to the original music composed for Touchdown’s productions. Touchdown’s current slate includes the BBC documentary “Kurt Cobain: Moments That Shook Music,” which aired in April to mark the 30th anniversary of the musician’s death. The film features never-before-seen archive footage, with an original score by London-based composer Joe Bridges, who has provided music for a variety of TV shows and film. Bridges has co-composed alongside Howe.

“We are committed to authentic storytelling and are thrilled to collaborate with Touchdown Films on their production slate,” says Tamsin Dove, Chief Commercial Officer at White Stork Music. “Touchdown Films stands out as one of the UK’s premiere independent production companies, who consistently create unmissable content and tell unforgettable stories. This venture allows us to offer a unique slate funding model, enriching stories with high-quality music and bringing them to global audiences.”

“As Touchdown Films grows its non-fiction output, Cutting Edge and White Stork are perfectly positioned to support us as we take our creativity and storytelling to new heights,” adds John Osborne. “This deal helps us expand our slate and provides us with access to world-class composers who can create truly exceptional scores of music for our films. I’m delighted to be collaborating with them.”

White Stork is a media music joint venture between CEMM and Howe, who has scored over 80 Emmy and BAFTA-winning dramas and documentaries, including shows like “Ted Lasso,” and “The Great British Bake Off.” White Stork aims to provide “a one-stop shop of A-list quality scores, music financing and rights management, and music services for film, television, video game, and commercial producers.”

Touchdown Films is one of the UK’s most premiere independent production companies, creating top tier non-fiction content for global audiences. The company was founded in 2016 by John Osborne, a filmmaker and producer who has spent the last two decades making successful television in the UK and US. His credits include “Apollo 8: The Mission That Changed the World” for National Geographic, “Hillsborough Remembered” for History, “Rock N’ Roll Exposed” for Showtime, and “The Story of Skinhead” for the BBC.
