A HYBE subsidiary focused on digital technology called Binary Korea has launched a new creator and fan engagement platform called Theus.

Theus will launch on June 22 and offers a way for creators to upload content to communicate with their audiences directly. The launch comes just three months after the beta for the platform, which has already attracted around 20,000 users. Theus offers a space where creators’ fans can communicate directly with creators and participate in various activities.

Popular South Korean YouTube creators have already joined the platform including DDotty and Yell sister. CheezeFilm and Shin Sajang will also join the platform. It’s intended to be a platform for digital creators and appears to resemble HYBE’s Weverse—which allows fans of artists to interact with them directly. The focus on digital creators means HYBE sees the creator economy as the next area of growth for the K-pop powerhouse. HYBE’s annual report in March 2024 revealed the company plans to transition into a “lifestyle multi-platform company.“

Theus is a collaborative project developed by Binary Korea in partnership with Sandbox Network, a digital entertainment company for managing creator admissions and operations. Both companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in October 2023 to develop a platform like YouTube and TikTok for their fans.

Kim Sung-min, CEO of Binary Korea, says more creators will join the platform in the coming months. Binary Korea will continue to develop the platform after launch to create new features based on feedback from creators who join. Kim has encouraged creators to take interest in Theus, calling it a digital playground for both creators and their fans.

“Theus is a fandom platform for creators with about 20 teams on board, currently,” Kim Sung-min confirms. “More creators are planning to join our community constantly, and we will listen to their feedback to drive innovation and enhance user experience on our platform. We look forward to welcoming fans to Theus, a new playground for both creators and the fandom that supports them.”
