50 Cent’s G-Unit Film & Television announces plans to invest over $124 million into Shreveport’s entertainment industry in a multi-phase initiative.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s G-Unit Film & Television Louisiana has announced a finalized agreement with the state to invest over $124 million in a multi-phase initiative to buoy Shreveport’s entertainment industry. The plan will see the development of three entertainment venues in the area to revitalize Northwest Louisiana’s existing assets.

According to the Louisiana Economic Development office, the rapper and mogul’s company will invest the money to renovate the Stageworks venue, update a production campus previously owned by Millennium Studios, and build a “dome-style immersive venue and green space park” in Shreveport. The state has also agreed to provide $50 million “in performance-based funding” for infrastructure at the three sites.

Overall, the project is expected to draw in $18.8 billion in economic impact, support over 6,000 jobs, and generate $300 million in wages across the state over the next 20 years.

“This project is the realization of the long-term commitment I have made to the City of Shreveport and the State of Louisiana,” said Jackson. “By reinvesting in downtown Shreveport and upgrading existing assets to create state-of-the-art entertainment and production facilities, we are creating jobs, inspiring hope, attracting new productions, and giving the entire entertainment industry a reason to build their futures right here. My goal is to turn Northwest Louisiana into the premier destination for film, music, and live entertainment on a national scale. All roads lead to Shreveport.”

“Northwest Louisiana continues to demonstrate its position as a center for creative and economic opportunity,” said Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois. “Revitalizing these facilities will generate new entertainment industry opportunities, including motion picture production, new jobs, and new investment across the region while strengthening the resources available to companies and talent across Louisiana’s entertainment industry.”

“North Louisiana is on the rise, and we’re thrilled to welcome yet another project that sees the strength, talent, and potential of this region,” said Governor Jeff Landry.

50 Cent unveiled blueprints for G-Unit Studios in Shreveport two years ago, comparing the plan for his production campus to that of Tyler Perry’s outside Atlanta. Last year, Jackson also announced a long-term lease with the city for the Stageworks venue space.
