JYP China, CJ ENM, and Tencent Music have partnered to launch a new joint venture focused on management and production in the Chinese-speaking market.
Tencent Music Entertainment (TME), CJ ENM, and JYP Entertainment’s Chinese subsidiary, JYP China, have announced a partnership focused on artist management and music production in the Chinese-speaking market. On Monday, JYP announced that NCC Entertainment—established by JYP China and TME—has formed a joint venture, ONECEAD, alongside global IP company CJ ENM.
The name “ONECEAD” combines JYP Entertainment’s motto, “Leader in Entertainment,” with CJ ENM’s core value, “ONLYONE.” This aims to reflect the venture’s ambition to lead the global market by uplifting and expanding next-gen talent. ONECEAD plans to build a portfolio centered on artist management, including music production, performances, and merchandise, with gradual expansion of its music business.
NCC Entertainment, as a joint venture between JYP China and TME, previously gave rise to the group BOY STORY. That project, a result of JYP’s localization strategy, has remained active in local tours and other music activities.
The launch of ONECEAD combines JYP China’s experience in producing and managing artists with CJ ENM’s content and music production capabilities and TME’s local infrastructure. The joint venture will be responsible for managing the global boy group MODYSSEY, the members of which were selected through the program “Planet C: Home Race” on the content platform Mnet Plus.
The news comes amid K-pop powerhouse Hybe joining rival agencies SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP in their broader push into the Chinese-speaking market. Those who read the tea leaves in market potential expect previously untapped growth in China, which is expected to further loosen its longstanding ban on South Korean entertainment. Better relations between China and South Korea could lead to a serious boom in concert tickets, albums, and merch sales for South Korean companies riding the wave of K-pop’s ever-increasing dominance in significant markets.
