A new report from TMZ suggests that singer D4vd could be indicted on murder charges for the death of 14 year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. Hernandez was reported missing several months before her body was discovered in the trunk of a Tesla registered to the singer.
The outlet sources familiar with the matter say “the grand jury that’s hearing the case will be asked to hand down an indictment.” According to those sources, authorities and prosecutor Beth Silverman believe D4vd was involved in the death of the teen. A timeline for when an indictment could be handed down is unclear.
KTLA reports that as of Monday afternoon, a spokesperson for the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed the case has not yet been filed.
Celeste Rivas Hernandez’s remains were discovered in a Tesla SUV that was found abandoned in the Hollywood Hills and later taken to a tow yard. The body was discovered several days later on September 8, after locals reported a terrible stench surrounding the car. The Texas plates on the impounded vehicle were registered to David Anthony Burke—who performs as D4vd.
The 20 year-old was on tour at the time the body was discovered, but the tour was soon cancelled as attention on the case reached a fever pitch. While the LAPD at the time did not view him as a suspect in the case, no one else has been arrested or formally charged in the months since the body was found.
Earlier this month, an executive at the record label Mogul Vision testified in connection with the death of the teen. TMZ cited sources who heard Robert Morgenroth speaking outside the courtroom, describing LA County Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman’s questioning of him, stating he felt she was “very pushy on why I didn’t call the police.”
“I feel like I didn’t have the responsibility to do that, and just wanted to continue with the tour,” Morgenroth reportedly answered Silverman.
