Live Nation Studios announces comedy-horror “Youth Juice,” written by “KPop Demon Hunters” scribes Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan.

Live Nation Studios has broken ground in Southern California on the production of Youth Juice, a “creepy satire” starring Gideon Adlon (“Euphoria”), Luna Blaise (Jurassic World), Simon Rex (Red Rocket), and Jay Hernandez (“Magnum P.I.”). Written by two of the talents behind Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters—Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan—the film is described as a horror-comedy about aging and how far people are willing to go to stop getting older.

“We wrote this during the pandemic, when we were both approaching 25, wasting away our youth indoors, going from miss to ma’am,” Jimenez and McMechan told Deadline. “At the time, it felt like a horror movie.”

Directed by Veronica Rodriguez (who directed the upcoming Disney film Camp Rock 3), Youth Juice follows Luna (Blaise) and Beni (Adlon), best friends afraid of growing old who travel to Palm Springs to “reclaim their vitality.” Rodriguez said it’s “a film that’s both entertaining and unsettling, about the strange things people do to feel young.”

“We’re thrilled to be working with creatives who elevate pop culture. We are so impressed by Veronica’s provocative vision and stylistically disruptive choices, as well as Danya and Hannah’s monumental work turning KPop Demon Hunters into a global phenomenon,” said Ryan Kroft, Live Nation Studios’ Head of Film & Television. “Youth Juice is wildly entertaining, sharp in its point of view, and completely original. It’s exactly the kind of artists-driven project we’re excited to champion as we continue to grow Live Nation Studios.”

Rodriguez, Jimenez, and McMechan are producing alongside Jorge Garcia Castro for Altered.LA. Pete Corona is producing for Ruta Media, Will Russell-Shapiro, and Pat Lambert for Live Nation Studios. Chris Abernathy and Eric B. Fleischman are producing for The Wonder Company, with Ryan Kroft and Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino serving as executive producers.
