You should include the link to each article where such people/companies might have been offended. =)
Shouldn’t this list be longer?
Ted Cohen gets a double-apology. You guys must’ve really ruffled his feathers.
…and this is something for which you are proud?
Nobody likes Keith Olberman either.
You’ve been so wrong for so long.
If you would just learn to spin out the spin you wouldn’t have to bow and scrape.
You’re so edgy!
My personal apology for all of my own offenses!
No apology to Google for being the most destructive MONK of music industry!
Why they have no interest in $50B of music sales in place of $2.5B in ads around free music?
Is it the Labor Day triggering your apologetic mood?
i wish i would have said more shit that i didn’t…
stakes are to high to be apologizing, i’ll find other ways of diplomacy!
Get at me Google et all boys > ;)
Jeff Price?? Really? That’s the only one I was certain would NOT be on this list. Don’t you work for him?
Hm, that’s right, you never offended Rick Falkvinge who founded the international Pirate Parties.
On the contrary, you’ve used him as a guest writer — and you even defended Mr. Falkvinge’s indefensible headline: Three Reasons Child Porn Must Be Re-Legalized In The Coming Decade
This is what you said:
I’ve read the Falkvinge piece on this topic, and while controversial I don’t think that is his point. He is rather extreme in his view that all information (in any form of media) should be legal, though he points to issues with broader laws in the area and inconsistencies with rules around other crimes like murder.
Edge is good — but this?
Digital Music News, you have proven that your douchery truly has no limits. Congrats.
… And that Paul must have been that kid in high school that no one liked :(
Someone’s got issues!
“Paul must have been that kid in high school that no one liked”
Or the opposite…
At any rate, I like writers that don’t try to please me — especially when there’s room for discussion — so what’s not to like here? :)
(I’m not the Anonymous you’re talking to, btw. I’m the one in the comment above him, bitching about Mr. Falkvinge…)
Interesting that you avoided putting The Pirate Bay on that list.
It’s actually on the list, but I have no idea why…
It’s a criminal organization, it’s launched and operated by convicted criminals, and it’s hurting every single music fan in the world — including most DMN readers — yet, I’ve never seen DMN say anything even remotely offensive about it.
TPB is operated by convicted criminals? Well, who are the criminals that is current operating TPB and what are they convicted of?
One of the convicted criminals who founded the site still seems to be involved, and all current operators are criminals as well.
Are you one of them, pirate?
You talked smack about Sir Paul!! Unforgivable!
How about an article about how MUSIC STREAMING REVENUE IN THE USA WILL BE $2 BILLION in 2014?
2012 Streaming Revenue: $1.0328 billion USD (up 59%) source RIAA
2013 Streaming Revenue: $1.439 billion USD (up 39.3%) source RIAA
2014 Streaming Revenue projection: $2 billion
When it first start to happend, it can happend very fast. Just look at the recent figures from my country Denmark, which released 4 days ago:
http://ifpi.dk/?q=content/digital-dominans-i-musikbranchen-0
The article is in Danish, but the image there should be understandable to anyone. Last year streaming was 45 percent, now it is 63 percent. Physical sales are down from 26 to 18 and download sales from 29 to 19. Two years ago, streaming was a only 24 percent, so this is how fast it can go, when things start moving.
And physical sales will continue to decline rapidly… Unless an independent label is “distributed” by one the big players, no one will even touch Scandinavia for distribution of physical product – it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy unfortunately.
The article? I like the SEO comment – I have no problem with that. Either way, the article is harmless.
A pro-streaming article? Dream on.
Um, this happens to be a site for music lovers, and music lovers suffer from streaming no matter if they are artists, writers, fans or producers.
If you like pro-streaming fiction, you have to visit one of the Tech sites. Streaming is absolutely awesome for guys like Mr. Ek.
very droll..
;-)
Such a meaty article.
Paul needs page views! Nice SEO work and a truly informative article.
“Nice SEO work”
Haha, yeah that’s for sure. It’s actually not a bad idea… :)
Slow news day, or what?
Who cares.
In the end you guys are not helping music,
You just trying kill rap music which is a standard.
Kurt cobain was an idiot.
Who stood for what? Freedom.
Bury all that none sense.
Love that you put Deborah Sass under Ted Cohen instead of alphabetically..
Keep em coming Paul – trolls live under almost every bridge.
Its offensive imagining this could possibly a viable industry
