AT&T recently tapped Music Choice to supply streaming audio channels for its IPTV initiative, U-Verse.
Music Choice will deliver its lineup of streaming music channels, as well as a selection of artist photos, album covers, and associated track metadata. “All music aficionados will be able to enjoy their favorite music and artists with Music Choice’s wide variety of channel playlists and programming,” said Dan York, head of programming at AT&T Operations, Inc. U-Verse is part of a larger AT&T initiative known as Project Lightspeed, an emerging fiber-optics network that will also deliver high-speed internet access and VoIP services. Through various subsidiaries, AT&T expects to reach nearly 19 million households by the end of 2008 though the use of fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technologies. The Music Choice tie-up was revealed on Friday.
