AT&T recently purchased Leap Wireless for $1.19 billion. The acquisition also includes Leap’s pay-as-you-go mobile carrier, Cricket Wireless, which comes bundled with music subscription service, Muve Music. This is AT&T’s first involvement with a music subscription business.
The entire deal is estimated to be worth about $4 billion, including all of Leap’s debt.
Muve will probably not survive in the At&t world. At least not in the current form. At&T wanted the spectrum. They could not care less about everything else. Bundling a music service takes out of the At&t’s profit margin. Perhaps it will be sold as a side service.
