Spotify Partners with Vodafone in the U.K.

Spotify has recently partnered with Vodafone in the U.K. to encourage consumers to upgrade their mobile service to Vodafone’s upcoming 4G service. Although launching only in the London area, 12 more cities are expected to be incorporated by the end of the year.

As part of the deal, Vodafone is giving customers an option to choose between subscriptions to Spotify Premium or Sky Sports Mobile TV.

The partnership is one of many deals Spotify has made with a telecommunications company, the most recent was with Virgin Media.

It’s the only way Spotify can grow: con consumers into subscribing to a so-called free Premium subscription they will never use.

It’s least they can choose between Spotify or Sky Sports….

Digital Music News comes bundled with Yves V. and there is no way to opt out.

Unfortunately, I’m rarely a sports watcher therefore would be forced to subscribe to Spotify. What’s the point really, my music isn’t even available on Spotify to begin with.
