Russell Simmons Apologizes for Releasing ‘Harriet Tubman Sex Tape’

Russell Simmons first tweeted that this was the “funniest thing” he’d every seen.  The formal apology, issued Friday morning, followed the removal of the video from Russell Simmons’ All Def Digital YouTube channel.  The NAACP, among other groups, took serious issue with the skit.

“My first impression of the Harriet Tubman piece was that it was about what one of actors said in the video, that 162 years later, there’s still tremendous injustice. And with Harriet Tubman outwitting the slave master? I thought it was politically correct. Silly me.  I can now understand why so many people are upset.”

This clip has been yanked from the official Global Grind channel, but of course is popping up everywhere else…
