Apple is aggressively pushing its streaming music ecosystem ahead of the holidays with a discounted HomePod offer in the UK.
Apple’s got the HomePod. Spotify doesn’t. Which means special offers — and even bundled giveaways — could be in the offing ahead.
Accordingly, Apple is now offering Apple Music subscribers a limited time holiday discount on its HomePod smart speaker. The move is part of a continued strategy to rope users into a broader streaming music ecosystem — and potentially squeeze out Spotify in the process.
Apple is offering 50 euros off until December 16th, bringing the cost of the HomePod down to 269 euros. This price marginally beats other retailers selling the HomePod, like Currys PC World. The offer equates to 63 USD.
It’s uncertain whether or not Apple will offer this deal to its other customers around the world. So far, it looks like this deal is relegated to the UK.
Apple’s email headline reads, “50 million songs never sounded so good,” and the text invites users to claim their ‘special gift’ from Apple.
The HomePod was added to Apple’s refurbished store about a month ago.
Apple seems to be embracing discounts and special offers more so than in their past. This upswing is Apple deals was noted after the release of the iPhone XR.
Although the HomePod is rumored to be suffering lower sales, Apple could be reaping a higher profit than rival speakers from Google or Amazon.
There’s also the broader plan to increase Apple Music subscribers, which brings in a more diversified revenue stream. There are currently 56 million subscribers in the world — versus an estimated 87 million paying subscribers over at Spotify. But that gap is narrowing.
Though this deal has been received positively, Target still offers the HomePod at a better price at $249.99. Just saying.
I love the HomePod It sounds awesome and I have two of them in my whole pattern of listening now has changed because I’m seeing this is the future and the way to listen to music. It really fills my house up infidelity wise sounds excellent.
