Lindsay Lohan premiered a new teaser of her single “Xanax” on the latest episode of a podcast.
Lohan has been away from the music scene for over a decade. The new single will be her first in 11 years, aside from a cameo appearance in a Duran Duran record. Her last single “Bossy” was released in 2008. It served as the theme song for her canceled Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club series on MTV.
Lohan’s first album was Speak, which debuted in 2004 and was certified platinum. She followed it up with another album in 2005 called A Little More Personal (Raw).
Longtime fans who follow her on social media shouldn’t be too surprised about the new track. She’s been hinting about her return to the world of music for a few months now. Back in June, she posted a picture of herself in a recording studio with a headphones emoji.
A teaser for her latest single debuted on Virgin Radio Dubai’s “The Kris Fade Show.” You can hear the small teaser release below.
Lindsay Lohan got her start as a child actress, but her career has involved a very high-profile battle with drug addiction. Lohan partnered with MTV to produce Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, but reports say the show was canceled for not being juicy enough. Producers wanted to revamp the show into a drama about Lindsay, her mother, and her sister, but that didn’t happen.
Even the show’s nightclub on the Greek island of Mykonos was shuttered. The club first opened in May 2018 as the setting for the show to follow Lohan’s daily life.
Beach Club had decent ratings as fans tuned in to see what the singer was doing, though viewership plummeted soon after. One source said the show was canceled because Lohan wasn’t bringing enough drama to the screen. “That’s not where [Lohan] is at with her life anymore,” one source said.
