Last week, Digital Music News first reported that Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin had clashed on social media. Now, Rose and GnR are attempting to capitalize upon the controversy with a t-shirt, proceeds from which will benefit MusiCares.
For those just tuning into the dispute between Axl Rose and Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin, the drama unfolded after Rose tweeted: “It’s official! Whatever anyone may have previously thought of Steve Mnuchin he’s officially an asshole.” Secretary Mnuchin fired back with a message of his own, and many thousands of others, on both sides of the showdown, voiced their opinions.
Now, Guns N’ Roses and Axl Rose have doubled down and targeted President Trump with a t-shirt reading: “Live N’ Let Die with COVID 45.” The announcement message was published on Twitter, along with a photo of the shirt and a link to Guns N’ Roses’ website (see t-shirt below).
The shirt is expected to ship on June 10th, and it will set customers back $25 plus shipping and handling fees. “All net proceeds will be donated to MusiCares,” the Recording Academy’s charitable wing, per the product description.
Social media reactions to the t-shirt have been mixed.
One elated individual stated, “I don’t know if it’s possible for me to be a bigger fan…”
And another person wrote: “That’s BAD ASS! I’m getting me one.”
Inversely, a different fan questioned the shirt’s appropriateness: “It doesn’t matter. To those who have lost loved ones to the Covid-19 virus, this is i [isn’t] appropriate. I love GnR but this was a mistake. Better ways to raise funds.”
Finally, a separate Twitter user asked, “What the hell are you doing? We just want some new songs.”
Earlier this month, MusiCares announced that its $14 million COVID-19 Relief Fund had been depleted. The non-profit organization’s execs intend to resume aiding artists once the Fund is reequipped with sufficient capital, though it’s unclear exactly when that will be.

Yawn. Another entitled Hollywood drug addict. What did he say?
Actually I really like Axl. He has a great voice even still. The group had a ton of super hits. Good for them and their success. I’m a jerk sometimes because I forget to take my meds.
All screeching cats have great voices, in my opinion. Axl has a great voice. Therefore, he is a screeching cat.
All this, then that. Logic is not logical when spouted off by idiots. And I am truly the biggest idiot around. Long live GnR!
Absolutely nothing!
Sellout
It’s a shame. Trump was told not to use their music. He did it anyways. What a jerk, I would be pissed too. That’s disrespectful.
MAGA! Thank goodness for blanket licenses! TRUMP 2020!
If you only knew what you were talking about. Blanket license? You probably think that’s for a picnic. It doesn’t cover Trump using or not using a song. Idiot.
Go to school, grasshopper, then request an audience.
Angelina needs help. Is that Tekashi 69, lol. Get help, please, stop it. You are out of your league, girl. Speak with intelligence, disrespect is an unhealthy lifestyle.
You’re pathetically showing that you just need attention. Sad.

never heard of him or his music. BUT I love the shirt logo.
sold out.
