Marilyn Manson is under investigation from the LA Sheriff’s Department over abuse allegations.
“The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Special Victim’s Bureau is investigating allegation(s) of domestic violence involving Mr. Brian Warner, also known as ‘Marilyn Manson,’ who works in the music industry,” said a statement released to the press on Friday. “The incidents occurred between 2009 and 2011 when Mr. Warner lived in the city of West Hollywood.”
The investigation of Marilyn Manson comes after multiple women made abuse allegations on social media. Manson’s ex-fiance Evan Rachel Wood spoke about her experiences with the shock rocker on Instagram. During her time with him, she said that she was “horrifically abused” and groomed from a young age. Several other women came forward with similar experiences, alleging both physical and psychological abuse.
“I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission and I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him before he ruins any more lives and I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent,” Wood’s Instagram post reads. She has spoken out about being an abuse survivor in the past but never named her abuser publicly until now.
Other woman shared similar stories of abuse about Manson on social media, prompting the Sheriff’s investigation.
“He would tie me up for the first of many times and rape me,” says a woman named Gabriella. “I sobbed on the floor of the hotel room when I looked at him; he was smiling. He told me he knew that’s how I loved him because of my reaction.”
Another accuser named Ashley Morgan shared her experiences at the hands of Manson. “There was abuse, sexual violence, physical violence, and coercion. I still feel the effects every day. I have night terrors, PTSD, anxiety, and mostly crippling OCD. He made me feel like him cutting me, burning me; his fist in my mouth was ‘our thing.’ There is so much more that happened.”
Another actress, Esmé Bianco, says Manson left bruises and permanent scars on her body. She alleges that the rocker once cut her torso with a knife and that she left him after he chased her with an ax.
After the abuse allegations aired, Marilyn Manson’s label, Loma Vista Recordings, dropped him unceremoniously. Manson has denied the allegations, responding to them on Instagram. He says the “recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality,” saying all of his relationships were “entirely consensual with like-minded partners.”
