One month out from summer’s official conclusion, TikTok is capping off the season with its “Songs of the Summer” lists.
TikTok just recently unveiled its 2024 Songs of the Summer, complete with separate global and U.S. lists showcasing the app’s most popular tracks for the period. Ever eager to underscore its music-space influence, the ByteDance subsidiary incorporated the key details into a post featuring lengthy statements from the involved artists.
Diving directly into the appropriate lists, those artists include Tommy Richman (who ranked first in the U.S. and third globally with “Million Dollar Baby”) and Tinashe (who placed second both domestically and internationally with “Nasty”).

Furthermore, despite the considerable media coverage that’s accompanied decades-old releases’ commercial resurgences on TikTok, the U.S. Songs of the Summer appear to align closely with the preferences of the app’s (generally young) core audience. Only three of the artists are in their 30s, with all others even younger than that. (“Champagne Coast” first released back in 2011, however.)
Similarly, each of the artists on the global Songs of the Summer list for 2024 is under 40. Though overlapping with Richman, Tinashe, Eilish, and others, this international chart features a different top track and several releases that didn’t make the cut stateside.
