‘The Popcorn Time for Music’ may soon be popped for good.
Aurous is now feeling the full, massive weight of litigation from major labels Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, and Sony Music Entertainment, not to mention the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and two top-tier law firms. Now, the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida has set October 28th as a deadline to determine whether Aurous should continue, in any capacity.
Earlier this week, 2o-year-old Aurous developer Andrew Sampson sent this rally cry to Aurous followers, via email.

No, it won’t. It will be a recommendation, only.
oh, poor dudes might not get to make millions ripping off musicians… boo hoo… let justice be served against these a-holes.
I’ve looked at the model and what you’ve created. You’re still a pirate, you’re just flying under different colours.
Ripping off music creators is not cool. Music makers need to survive and so I hope your model dies in the courtroom.
Go create something of your own that does leach off the creativity of others. I dare you!!
Start making the popcorn now.
The only thing more pathetic than a pirate is a pirate who promotes his own altruism and benevolence.
Fancy yourself Robin Hood? Stealing from the rich and “sharing” with the poor? Have you visited a cross-section of the actual musician population recently? Were most of them living in McMansions in the tasteful Kim Dotcom style? And just how much of the profits will you be keeping for yourself, noble soul?
Does this toolbag think people on twitter will have an effect on a judge’s decision? LOL
If the creators remove the portion that links to the russian mp3s then I think it should be allowed to operate. Musician’s make very little money off of iTunes, Spotify and Pandora. Not nearly enough to make a minimum wage living. The goal of those services is to get their music out to large audiences so that they can sell tickets from touring (where they make the majority of their money). I may be wrong, but I don’t know how the creators of Aurous stand to make any money. It’s a free service with zero ads…
