Yesterday was a historic night. In the first time in America’s 238 year history, a female was nominated for President. There’s just one problem, however: one presidential child wasn’t on-hand to see it. Malia Obama, eldest daughter of current commander-in-chief Barack Obama was photographed at Lollapalooza in Chicago.Malia Obama was first spotted attending Lollapalooza on Thursday, watching Cashmere Cat. Witnesses said that the Secret Service wasn’t very far behind, yet none of them can be seen in the shots and videos posted on Twitter due to agents dressing with casual plaid shirts and pants for the event. Twitter user lexidubb posted a video to Twitter showing the presidential daughter dancing to the Norwegian artist’s tunes alongside the crowd. User alexanderlao also posted 3 photos with Malia talking to a few crowd members. Several stage members can be seen in the background snapping shots of the presidential daughter. Cashmere Cat’s set was scheduled from 7:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
This isn’t the first time Malia Obama has attended the festival. She was first spotted attending the event in 2014 during Chance the Rapper’s set, which caused quite a stir. It’s unknown if she will continue to attend the music festival, with artists Excision and Flosstradamus scheduled today at around the same time Malia was snapped yesterday.
Lollapalooza is an annual festival usually held in Grant Park in Chicago, but with events held around the world. Founded in 1991, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the music festival and has hosted top artists and bands like Depeche Mode, the Beastie Boys, Kanye West, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others. This year’s Lollapalooza started yesterday and is expected to last until Saturday.
