Maroon 5 and Apple have teamed up to offer the band’s latest single, “Memories” on the iOS Photos app.

The Memories feature launched with the most recent iOS 13 update. This marks the first time Apple has collaborated with an artist to launch a new song.

The Memories feature in Photos creates curated collections of meaningful photos. Starting today, Maroon 5’s “Memories” single is available as a soundtrack for users of the Photos app. You can edit the photos included in the Memories feature and select the song as a soundtrack.

Maroon 5 used the Memories feature on iOS to create a montage of photos from their work together. The ‘Made with Memories’ video highlights the creation process.

Frontman Adam Levine says the band wrote the song to bring people together.

“No matter what happens in the world around you, think about those people you love and share some good memories. We wrote this song to bring people together. It’s an important message for right now, and we love that we can still surprise ourselves and our fans after all these years.

In addition to the song, the band would also like to share some of our fondest memories that shaped us over the years. We urge you to do the same. Sometimes, amidst all the static, it’s a valuable exercise to peel back the layers and share our most basic memories. It’s what unites us and makes us one human race.”

The new single is the first from Maroon 5 since 2017. The song is part of the band’s seventh full-length album, which is releasing soon.

The promotion makes sense, though you can only see the collaboration video on Apple Music. You’d think Apple would want to advertise the feature more broadly to entice people to switch to iOS 13. Check it out if you’re an Apple Music subscriber, the process is pretty neat.
