The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is reportedly investigating Canadian rapper Tory Lanez for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, July 12th.

For additional background, the shocking episode occurred after police were called to investigate an in-vehicle disturbance outside a Hollywood Hills home on Sunday. An SUV owned by Tory Lanez (but driven by a chauffeur) allegedly sped off once officers arrived. And after tracking down the vehicle, law enforcement professionals instructed its passengers – Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez, and an unidentified woman – to exit.

Megan allegedly suffered two gunshot wounds to the foot (originally reported as cuts from broken glass) while or shortly before stepping out of the vehicle. Disturbing footage of the incident, appearing to show the injured Houstonite limping and bleeding as she attempted to follow police officers’ orders and walk away, subsequently leaked.

Two days ago, Megan indicated on Instagram that she hadn’t been arrested in connection with the unsettling happening, but had instead been transported to a hospital, where she “underwent surgery to remove the bullets.” The “Savage” singer also revealed that she is expected to make a full recovery – but didn’t elaborate on what exactly resulted in her grappling with bullet-related injuries.

Despite Megan Thee Stallion’s staying mum on the subject, reports from sources with knowledge of the matter have disclosed that the LAPD may currently be investigating Tory Lanez concerning his allegedly committing assault with a deadly weapon. Lanez hasn’t publicly addressed the alleged assault, but he was arrested and booked for possession of a firearm (not for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion) on Sunday.

At the time of this writing, LAPD officials hadn’t formally confirmed a potential assault investigation into Lanez to the media. For what it’s worth, given the situation’s gravity, Megan Thee Stallion appears to have unfollowed Tory Lanez on social media. Plus, Megan penned an emotional message on Twitter just hours ago, indicating that she is feeling “hurt and traumatized” – a point that seems to contradict the idea that the alleged shooting was accidental, as Lanez is reportedly claiming.

“Black women are so unprotected & we hold so many things in to protect the feelings of others w/o considering our own,” Megan Thee Stallion stated on Twitter. “It might be funny to y’all on the internet and just another messy topic for you to talk about but this is my real life and I’m real life hurt and traumatized.”

More as this develops.
