Sun Label Group celebrated its official launch under parent company Primary Wave Music last night at the Ole Smoky Distillery in Nashville.

The new label group brings together the rich legacies of Sun Records, Gaither Music, Green Hill Music, Rural Rhythm, and emeraldwave by Green Hill under the innovative vision of Sun Label Group and its President, Paul Sizelove. Guests at the celebration event were treated to an evening of exceptional performances.

The event was hosted by Rory Feek, a cherished artist from Gaither Music, who emceed the event and performed a heartfelt song to set the tone for the night. Multi-talented jazz musician and songwriter Dara Starr Tucker graced the stage with her powerful vocals and profound lyrics. Tucker has released music by Green Hill Music and won acclaim for co-writing the title track to blues and Americana artist Keb Mo’s Oklahoma.

Shawna Thompson, one half of the award-winning country duo Thompson Square, also captivated the audience last night. Her performance came as she prepares to unveil her debut solo album, Lean on Neon, which is set to release on Sun records in September. Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown took the stage as the backing band for the Sun Records artists, including a spirited jam of “That’s All Right” paying homage to Elvis Presley and the musical origins of Sun Records.

Sun Label Group celebrates 160 years of music across Sun Records, Gaither Music, Green Hill Music, and emeraldwave by Green Hill. Under parent company Primary Wave Music, the dynamic and innovative music company is dedicated to celebrating the legacy of musical icons and shaping the future of music and entertainment. From catalog preservation and reimagination to curating exceptional new auditory experience, Sun Label Group is a testament to the enduring power of music.

Five-time Grammy nominee Ruthie Foster brought her rich blend of gospel, blues, and American roots music to the stage. Her soulful performance included songs from her upcoming album, Mileage, produced and co-written with Bryant and his wife Rebecca Lovell (one half of the duo Larkin Poe) and set to release on Sun Records in August.

ZZ Ward also delivered a compelling blues set, offering a glimpse into her forthcoming EP and full-length album on Sun Records. Her collaboration with Slash on an upcoming blues tour promises to bring her distinctive sound to even broader audiences.

The even celebrated Sun Label Group’s dedication to honoring musical legacies while shaping the future of sound. The eclectic mix of performances highlighted the diverse array of genres and talent within the Group and set the stage for the exciting new musical experiences and platforms to come.
