Time flies: rapper and Tidal CEO Jay Z just celebrated his 47th birthday with wife Beyonce and friends. It was a ‘discreet affair’.
On Saturday, December 3, rapper and producer Jay Z celebrated his 47th birthday. But how did the rapper celebrate it? According to friends close to the rapper, Jay Z arrived at French restaurant, République, alongside his wife, Beyonce, in Los Angeles.
They kept their arrival hidden from public view, and even had the entrance covered with dark green tarps.
Former Destiny Child’s member, Kelly Rowland, arrived at the party with her husband, Tim Witherspoon. Gwyneth Paltrow sent a congratulatory Instagram, thanking “Uncle Jay Z.” The picture includes the rapper with Paltrow’s two children.

However, the rapper celebrates his birthday embroiled in controversy.
The rapper, TIDAL, and Roc Nation are currently facing a multi-million-dollar lawsuit. According to Prince’s estate, TIDAL uploaded and streamed the late singer’s catalog without permission. TIDAL and Roc Nation claim that the music streaming service has access to stream Prince’s catalog. However, the late singer’s estate disagrees.
According to them, Jay Z apparently failed to make a $750,000 payment. Expecting a lawsuit, the rapper’s Roc Nation filed a lawsuit first against the estate of Prince. They question the validity of the estate to question their agreement with Prince. As expected, the late singer’s estate filed a copyright infringement suit that could cost the singer and his floundering streaming service millions.
Also, earlier this year, TIDAL discreetly posted a huge loss in the music streaming service. Jay Z nor TIDAL executives have yet to find a way to stem the huge losses.
Furthermore, several weeks ago, during his now-infamous meltdown, Kanye West called out his former colleague. He stated that Jay Z hasn’t called him, and said that his wife, Beyonce, won’t perform over jealousy.
Jay Z has yet to release an official statement addressing these issues.
