The album comes amidst a spat with Nicki Minaj over her beef with Remy Ma. Late in February, Remy Ma dropped a diss track titled ‘ShETHER.’ Towards the middle of the track, she claims that Nicki Minaj slept with Trey Songz. She rapped,’
“Mention guns, you Pussy Galore, James Bond / Only time you touch a trigga is when you f….d Trey Songz.”
On Twitter, Trey Songz responded,
“Even when you stay out of the way they will have ya name all in some s…t. Wake up to new comedy everyday. Focus.”
Nicki Minaj dissed Songz on now-deleted tweets. Questioning his credibility, and infuriated over gaining him records, she tweeted,
“Lol. Wut U SHOULD be saying is that it’s not true, seeing as it’s not. Real niggaz do real things. I done gotchu 6 million plaques.”
Songz attempted to smooth things over, but things didn’t go as well.
Now, in a new interview Friday with The Breakfast Club, Songz addressed the situation with Minaj. He told Power 105.1 radio hosts in New York that he’s the reason why Minaj became popular. He originally featured her on his song, ‘Bottoms Up.’
“All before that, it was looks, you hanging with Wayne, ‘Who’s the wild girl with the wild hair?’”
Looking directly at the camera, he expressed his love for Nicki Minaj. However, he claims that she disrespected him.
“I love you, Nicki, I love you…you came at me wrong, you disrespected me but I love you.”
Following the Remy Ma diss, Trey Songz made a video stating that he had never slept with Minaj. Apparently for Nicki Minaj, however, the video didn’t go far enough. Now, the rift has grown wider following the rapper’s comments on The Breakfast Club.

Before bottoms up, Nicki was already very well known. she already had put out ‘Your Love’ which hit number 1 on the rap charts, making her the first female in 7 years to do so! She was on YM’s ‘Roget That’ that also hit number 1 on the rap charts, Usher’s ‘Lil Freak’, Ludacris’s ‘My Chick Bad’ which earned a grammy nomination, Bedrock, 5 Star chick, all these songs came out BEFORE Bottoms Up, and the reason Bottoms Up is so successful is because of Nicki’s crazy verse, it reached number 6 on the BBH 100, his most successful song TO DATE, that says you needed Nicki for a hit. you sound sooo bitter
