Michael Cohl, former Live Nation Chairman and powerhouse concert producer, has recently joined Civilized Worldwide Inc. as an investor and a member of its board of directors.
Civilized Worldwide Inc. comprises civilized.life, a news and entertainment website; Civilized Studios, a multi-platform video network; and Civilized Events, which produces branded events for the cannabis industry and consumers.
“I was looking for a media platform in the cannabis space where I could bring my expertise and I found it with Civilized,” Cohl relayed. “I’m excited about what we’ll achieve together, and the kind of events we’ll be offering audiences around the world.”
Cohl’s experience will help Civilized Worldwide Inc. advance its events business, which defines itself as a “premium media and lifestyle brand” and “highlights modern cannabis culture.” He’s spent about five decades as a producer and promoter for concerts, musicals and films, working closely with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, U2, Prince and more.
Cohl’s Broadway credits include Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark, Lion King, Spamalot, Rock of Ages, and Hairspray, among others. Cohl has also worked on many documentaries including Pete Seeger: Power of Song and LENNONYC.
Not only does Cohl organize tours and events, but he’s helped over 150 artists with everything from merchandising to marketing their DVDs, TV specials, books and films. He’s accomplished to land a place in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, not to mention a Tony and an Emmy.
“Michael brings unparalleled knowledge, relationships and passion to the Civilized brand,” added Derek Riedle, CEO and Publisher of Civilized. “He joins Mitch Fox, the former Group President of Condé Nast and Publisher of Vanity Fair and Details magazines, who’s also a board member. With these two professional icons and our team, we’ll continue along our path of accelerated growth. It’s exciting times.”
