Approximately 50,000 names have been added to a petition to remove Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, from the Coachella 2022 lineup. Now, Ye has reportedly bailed on the much-anticipated festival just 11 days before it’s scheduled to begin.

The shocking development arrives after the Recording Academy blocked the artist from playing the 2022 Grammys due to purportedly “concerning online behavior,” referring to the Atlanta native’s war of words with his ex-wife’s boyfriend.

Moreover, the aforementioned petition, launched by a diehard fan who runs a “Kim & Pete Fan Page,” reads in part: “We have watched Kanye harass, manipulate, and hurt Kim, Pete, and others for over a year now. No one seems to want to stand up to him, and the ones that do, he puts under fire as well.”

It looks as though the petition’s desired result has come to fruition, for all manner of outlets have reported that Ye won’t perform at Coachella 2022 alongside the likes of Billie Eilish, Harry Styles, and Swedish House Mafia after all. Previously, different reports yet indicated that West had told Kim Kardashian of his plans to go “away to get help,” but paparazzi this afternoon captured images of the Donda 2 creator out and about.

In any event, neither the 44-year-old rapper nor Goldenvoice/Coachella had publicly confirmed or addressed the subject at the time of this piece’s writing. If the rumored Coachella withdrawal is true, however, fans with passes to the festival’s Sunday dates – that is, April 17th and 24th – will be down one headliner.

And Travis Scott, who was reportedly poised to join West on stage following the Astroworld tragedy, is no longer expected to appear at Coachella 2022. Bearing in mind these points – and the relatively steep cost of entry to Coachella – fans are taking to social media to suggest possible replacement headliners.

“Kanye pulled out of Coachella?? Which means there’s an open spot.. Someone get Blackpink on the phone right NEOW,” penned one individual. (The K-pop girl group previously entertained attendees at Coachella 2019, before the annual festival took off 2020 and 2021.)

“i’m like literally begging for coachella to let doja cat headline now that kanye dropped out,” weighed in another observer. (The 26-year-old Grammy winner is currently slated to perform at Coachella 2022 on Sunday.)

“Kanye pulled out of Coachella…I’m manifesting Bad Bunny!!” authored a third Twitter user.

“how awesome would it be if Taylor Swift replaced Kanye as the headliner for @coachella,” suggested a Swiftie.

Others have proposed Frank Ocean (a Coachella 2023 headliner), Silk Sonic, Calvin Harris, and Miley Cyrus (who came down with COVID-19 last week) as fill-ins for West, with some claiming that word of Ye’s reported pullout has spurred a pass selloff.
